San Diego Food + Wine Festival Named Best Wine Festival of 2024

San Diego continues to shine on the national stage, with the San Diego Food + Wine Festival recently being honored as the “Best Wine Festival” in the 2024 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest. This prestigious recognition underscores the festival’s unwavering commitment to excellence and its status as the leading wine and food celebration in the country.

Formerly known as the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival, this annual event has grown exponentially since its inception, drawing attention from food and wine enthusiasts nationwide. As the festival gears up to celebrate its 20th anniversary from November 2nd to 10th, 2024, attendees can expect an even more enhanced experience. This milestone year will introduce new partnerships with The James Beard Foundation® and Food Tank, alongside a lineup of exciting new programming.

Michelle Metter, Festival Co-producer, expressed her pride in the journey of the festival: “Our journey began over 20 years ago with a mission to create an annual showcase that casts a national and international spotlight on the vibrant city of San Diego, our surrounding bioregion and its incredibly talented and passionate chefs, farmers, fisherman, winemakers, and producers.”

Over the years, the San Diego Food + Wine Festival has not only celebrated the region’s culinary diversity but has also become a hub for thought leaders in the food and beverage industry. The festival now attracts over 11,000 wine and food enthusiasts, who gather to celebrate San Diego’s rich culinary landscape. The event offers a chance to experience the largest curated collection of wine, beer, spirits producers, and culinary talents from across the country.

The 2024 festival will showcase an extraordinary selection of over 800 wines and spirits from renowned regions like Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Paso Robles, and international destinations such as Spain, France, and Argentina. Attendees can enjoy individual events or purchase weekend packages for experiences such as the Grand Decant, Grand Tasting, and Grand Fiesta.

In addition to offering unforgettable culinary experiences, the festival has a philanthropic side, raising funds for culinary, oenology, and hospitality scholarships and grants. Over the years, it has awarded over $600,000 to individuals and nonprofits.
